With the upcoming implementation of the Mandatory Reporting Regime (MRR), professionals working with children must strengthen their awareness and capacity to safeguard child safety. Save the Children Hong Kong hosted the “Child Protection Conference” on 6 September 2025, at the Hong Kong Science Park InnoCentre, Kowloon Tong.
This conference provided a dynamic platform for participants to exchange insights, engage with cross-sector professionals, and hear directly from children about their perspectives on safety. The event was designed to foster learning, collaboration, and the development of practical skills.
Highlights of the Conference:
- Children’s Voices: Attendees heard firsthand accounts from children, emphasizing their views on safety and protection.
- Expert Panel Discussions: Taura Edgar from TALK Hong Kong participated in a significant panel discussion titled “Child Sexual Abuse – What Do Duty Bearers Need to Know?” Here, she shared critical insights on the realities surrounding child sexual abuse in Hong Kong.
- Interactive Workshops: Taura led the session “Awareness to Action: Preventing Child Sexual Abuse.” She guided participants through understanding the prevalence of child sexual abuse, the reasons behind underreporting, and actionable steps to prevent such incidents.
